Brady Cattle Co. Is a small herd operation located in Rising Star, Tx. on The Flash Ranch. We raise both commercial and registered Red Angus with a focus on quality and not quantity. Our passion is breeding bulls; it is exciting to watch a top-tier breeding bull develop from birth to working age. We also develop quality replacement heifers both registered and commercial. New in 2024 we will be producing the Red Angus-sanctioned Premium Red Baldy F1 cross as a replacement for our commercial Red Angus. The Premium Red Baldy is a cross between Red Angus and Hereford. The Premium Red Baldy was developed to produce A superior female. We have acquired semen from a select few elite Hereford sires to start and build this program from.

Brady Cattle Co. is an active member of the RED ALLIANCE. Founded in 2002 the RED ALLIANCE is a cooperative of select Red Angus breeders that are committed to improving and furthering the Red Angus breed. Our members strongly subscribe to the use of artificial insemination, embryo transfer and outstanding herd sires in order to stay on the leading edge of economically relevant traits that enhance the production of high-quality Red Angus bulls and females for our customers. It is the same general philosophy employed by top breeder programs throughout the country.  We send our select bulls through the RED ALLIANCE bull development center in Sulphur Bluff Tx for development and marketing. We also market our replacement heifers through the RED ALLIANCE sales that occur in both March and October each year. With the availability of the RED ALLIANCE bull development center, we are able to test our bulls against some of the best bulls in the country and develop the best bull possible. We also sell private treaty throughout the year.

Our Registered Foundation | The main foundation of our registered herd derives from the legendary sire Buf Crk The Right Kind U199 RAAA 1260155. In many cases our cattle is top and bottom bred Right Kind. With over 2100 progeny to his name, he is at the foundation of the Red Angus breed. He delivers a superior phenotype, just the right amount of calving ease, and really nice growth. his progeny have proven to have superior docility and ease of handling. We have stayed in line by heavily using one of his sons WW Right Type 71013 RAAA 3968798. In 2021 we used 3J One Of  A Kind RAAA 1683296. WW Right Type 71013 has given us really fine consistent females and some quality bull calves. We are super proud of his work here on the Flash Ranch. Looking forward to our 3J One Of  A Kind breeding's we expect the quality of this line to continue. In addition we have bred heavily to our herd sire KJL DOMAIN 0102 to help us continue to improve our growth and terminal traits. He is a magnificent sire and has proven invaluable to our program.

Our focus on Red Angus cattle lies in the following.

Phenotype | Red Angus cattle that are built right and prepared to perform in the extremes of Texas.

 

Animal Growth | growth rate and structure of the animal with natural rations. Our cattle graze native Texas grasslands and we expect them to produce. Our herd is supplemented with hay mostly in the winter cattle cube on a very limited basis and a balanced ration of minerals. We produce cattle that maximize their rations. Bull calves are raised to 4 months on their mother and native forage. From 5 months to 6 months they will have access to creep to help supplement growth. Select bulls that have performed to 6 months of age are then sent to the RED ALLIANCE bull development center in Sulphur Bluff, Tx to maximize their potential.

Breeding Soundness | It is our goal to produce heifers that when paired with the right bull calve without assistance in their first season. we also strive to produce females with breeding longevity. In our bulls, we expect moderate realistic birth weights (70 -80 #) and exceptional growth rates.

EPD'S | Down on our focus list but not any less important are EPD's. Through artificial insemination and natural service, we strive to produce the most balanced EPD's possible. Balanced and consistent is the key to our cattle.

Disposition | Red Angus cattle are renown for their ease of handling. Our cattle are bred for ease of handling and held to the highest of docility standards.
